Sunny spring weekends are approaching, and you don’t know where to go?
We at Blurent have you covered with short or long-distance itineraries, so you can take advantage of all our offers:
The adventure begins in the afternoon in Caltanissetta, where you’ll complete the vehicle collection procedures at the Blurent center. Just enough time to familiarize yourself with the controls and refuel, and you’re already on your way south. Driving through the inland hills that slope down to the sea, you arrive in Agrigento at dusk. It’s the perfect time: the air cools and the Valley of the Temples lights up, offering a monumental and almost mystical spectacle. You’ll settle in for the night in one of the rest areas on the San Leone coast, falling asleep to the sound of the sea.
You’ll wake up early to reach the nearby Scala dei Turchi before the crowds arrive. Admiring this immense white marl cliff plunging into the blue, its whiteness enhanced by the morning light, is a rejuvenating experience. From here, you’ll head west, skirting the vineyards and seascapes of the Trapani coast until you reach the Stagnone Reserve, near Marsala. The afternoon is dedicated to a stroll among the windmills and salt pans. Stay here until late: the sunset over the salt flats, perhaps accompanied by a glass of local Marsala wine, is considered one of the most beautiful in Italy.
In the morning, you’ll say goodbye to the coast and climb, curve after curve, to the summit of Mount Erice. This medieval village welcomes you with its cobbled streets and a timeless atmosphere; don’t forget to stop at a historic pastry shop to sample the famous warm “genovesi.” In the afternoon, head back down towards the sea and head straight for the San Vito Lo Capo peninsula. Once you’ve parked your camper at one of the equipped campsites near the beach, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the Caribbean sand and treat yourself to a seafood couscous dinner.
You leave the tranquility of the sea behind and head to Palermo, the island’s capital, about an hour and a half away. After parking your vehicle in a secure area near the center, you’ll dive headfirst into the city. Palermo is an explosion of contrasts: you’ll stroll admiring the Arab-Norman splendor of the Cathedral and the Norman Palace, and then be overwhelmed by the aromas, shouts, and colors of historic markets like Ballarò or Capo, where local street food (panelle, crocchè, and sfincione) will be served for lunch and dinner.
After the vibrant energy of Palermo, day five takes you to a more relaxed pace along the northern coast. You arrive in Cefalù, a pearl nestled between the sea and an imposing stone fortress. Spend the afternoon exploring the narrow streets of the historic center, visiting the splendid Norman cathedral with its golden mosaics, and taking a romantic stroll along the old pier at sunset, gazing at the fishermen’s houses reflected in the water.
It’s time to cross Sicily eastward, past Messina to reach the Ionian coast. Today’s destination is Taormina, an elegant village perched on a cliff. Strolling along Corso Umberto, past boutiques and artisan workshops, you’ll reach the famous Ancient Theater. The view from up here is an unforgettable postcard: the age-old scene, the blue sea of Giardini Naxos below, and, in the background, the smoking silhouette of Mount Etna. For the night, you’ll head down to the coast at campsites near the sea.
The morning is dedicated to Sicily’s gentle giant. Drive up Mount Etna’s hairpin bends to the Rifugio Sapienza, at about 1,900 meters above sea level. Here, you’ll hike through the lunar landscape of the Silvestri Craters, surrounded by historic lava flows and the crisp air. In the afternoon, descend to Catania: a dynamic and fascinating city, rebuilt in Baroque style using dark lava stone. Piazza del Duomo, with its Elephant Fountain and lively Via Etnea, will offer you an evening filled with nightlife and excellent cuisine (it’s the perfect time for a pasta alla Norma).
The journey continues south to Syracuse. The beating heart of the city is the island of Ortygia, a labyrinth of narrow white limestone alleys that dazzlingly reflect the sunlight. Wandering aimlessly, you’ll discover hidden baroque courtyards, the Fountain of Arethusa with its wild papyrus, and one of Italy’s most spectacular cathedral squares. If you have time, also visit the Neapolis Archaeological Park on the mainland to whisper inside the legendary Ear of Dionysius.
Before beginning the return journey, spend the morning in Noto, the undisputed capital of Sicilian Baroque, where the palaces and churches seem sculpted from gold thanks to the warm local stone. In the early afternoon, to avoid racing against time the next day, set your GPS toward central Sicily, returning to the Caltanissetta area. This strategic choice allows you to spend a stress-free evening, enjoying a leisurely dinner featuring typical inland dishes (such as local cheeses and meats) and taking your time organizing your luggage and cleaning the vehicle.
The alarm rings early, but without the anxiety of having to travel long highway routes. After a final breakfast and completing the camper’s final technical formalities, such as draining the wastewater, you’ll head directly to the Blurent center in Caltanissetta for the scheduled morning return. The journey ends here, right where it began, leaving you with the scent of salt, Baroque architecture, and the Sicilian earth.
